Last Saturday Malcolm and I took Klaus to agility training. For a big boy, he is such a baby! We started on the ‘A’ Frame and he cried all the way up and all the way down but after a couple of goes, he got the hang of it, and enjoyed the treat at the end. He then moved onto the baby walk which is a plank up, a plank along and a plank down. He really didn’t like walking the plank but again with a bit of encouragement, he did it. The jumps were easy for him and the tunnel was fine once he saw his ‘dad’ waiting at the end! After all the practice, we did a complete circuit with no issues. Well Done Klaus!

Klaus started agility training
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010Klaus has almost finished his first course of puppy training
Sunday, August 16th, 2009Klaus can now sit, stay, lay down and stand. He can also come on command…. all of this is still only when he wants to do it but he is getting better day by day. After next week he goes up to his next class.
We had a breakthrough in the fields though, he now brings his beloved frisby back to us and just chucks it down at our feet, it makes throwing and retrieving much more fun.
Poor Klaus had his first visit to the vets a couple of days ago. He has a sore lip at the side so we have to put cream on it twice a day other than that, he is growing and getting more fun with each day.
Klaus’s 2nd week of training
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009Since Klaus’s first weeks training session, he has developed a bit of an independant streak. He has decided he will tell us when he is ready to go home after playing with his frizbie on the common. Refusing to get in the car or even come back to us was becoming normal behaviour for him. Luckily during the second week at training, we covered ‘recall’. The little minx did it perfect!!! We spoke to the trainer, Lisa Jackson and she advised us to use a long training lead that can trail along as he runs for his frizbie and if he does not come back, it is something we can grab hold of and encourage him back with treats.
Klaus also learnt how to stand on command and how to leave a treat in an open hand, and take it on command – we are still perfecting this!
We took Klaus to the common this afternoon, together with long training lead. He came back perfectly once and almost came back a few times so I guess for the first time, one out of about 20 isn’t too bad
