Things to Enjoy in Historical Worcester
With its rich heritage of culture events and architecture the city of Worcester offers plenty to keep you informed and entertained.
Worcester is wonderful for strolling around with its mixture of ancient architecture, sights and shopping. Take a walk alongside the river or sit and relax in one of the many cafés.
Worcester Cathedral:
The Cathedral, which seems to rise out of the River Severn is well worth a visit!
The Cathedral offers a 1 hour tour at 11:00am and 2:30pm.
May-October the tour takes place Mondays-Saturdays but during the Winter they only run on a Saturday.
Tickets can be purchased from the Cathedral Gift Shop and are currently priced at £3 for Adults.
Royal Worcester Porcelain Museum:
Royal Worcester Porcelain Museum and Visitor Centre offers the worlds largest collection of Royal Worcester Porcelain.
The Museum which has been recently refurbished is open 7 days a week and welcomes visitors of all ages.
Whilst at Royal Worcester you can try your hand at painting your own plate or taking the guided tour of the factory.
The many shops on site offer you the opportunity to treat yourself or you can take a break in the relaxed and welcoming café.
Shopping in Worcester:
Shopping in Worcester is mostly on the pedestrianised high street which features large, small and unique local shops.
There are two large Shopping Malls, Cathedral Plaza and Crown Gate both offering an extensive variety of Shops and Eateries.
The Worcester Festival:
The Worcester Festival has been running since 2003 and covers nearly three weeks of events and activities.
Events include music, drama, puppetry, mime, art, history, comedy and dancing to name but a few.
The festival climaxes with the firework display which takes place on the August bank holiday by the citys main bridge.
Most of the events are priced at around £5.
